Student, Eastfield College
“I went to Eastfield’s Advisement Center and told them I was undecided in my choice of major and career, and the advisor suggested I take the Learning Framework course to develop a major and career strategy. I’m now working my way through college, working part time in a hair salon and getting lots of experience with people and work.
“In college, I feel more independent and in charge of my education and choices in life. It’s not like high school, where I had to do what others told me to do. Now I’m my own boss in creating my own future. The Learning Framework class focused on ways to be more assertive, learn study skills, stay organized and have healthy relationships.
“I can’t wait to go on with my plans to counsel children ages 3 to 12 years old. I want to pick a major that will help me become a children’s therapist or family social worker.
“I am more confident in who I am and what my passions might be, and I believe I am finding myself. In Human Development classes, we are taught that we are the architect of our own future. I am my own person, and I like who I am becoming.”
Valentina Nunez took the HDEV Learning Framework course at Eastfield College.
