For the Love of the Lake: Help Us Clean Up!

This article appeared in a February 2016 issue of the student newsletter.

Ever heard the saying "Be the change you want to see in the world?"

Well, a lot of Dallas citizens (students included) want to see White Rock Lake restored to its former beauty. One of the most heavily used parks in Dallas, White Rock is the home of many special events and marathons. It is also one of the best places to experience natural areas and wildlife in an urban setting.

That is until recently. Some areas of White Rock are looking more like a landfill than a beautiful, picturesque park.

Be the Change on March 5

To tackle this growing problem, this year's DCCCD Day of Service will take place at White Rock Lake.

Hosted by Brookhaven College, our 2016 "Be The Change" event will be titled "For the Love of the Lake" and will take place on Saturday, March 5, 9 a.m. - noon at White Rock Lake.

Students, staff and community members are invited to together for one day of fun, fellowship and environmental stewardship. Participation is limited, however, to the first 75-100 people who register online.

Questions? Please contact Perla Molina at pmolina@dcccd.edu.

We hope to see you at the lake!
